LAB & EQUIPMENTS: R311

R311 is for cryogenic measurements, gas handling, and general analytical measurements such as spectroscopy and electrochemistry.

Lab for physical properties.

Room 311 is composed of three rooms. The main room is for cryogenic electronic and magnetic measurements using liq. N2 and He. The He gas is recovered by Laboratory of Low-Temperature Materials Science at IMR and recycled to liq. He. The smallest room is used for gas experiments, which not only perform gas adsorption/desorption measurements but also do handling gas supply to other cryostats such as PPMS and MPMS for in situ electronic/magnetic measurements. Another room is used not only as a stock room, but also for sampling, spectroscopic characterization, and solution chemistry.

Control physical properties by gases

A small room of R311 is used for gas handling and gas adsorption/desorption measurements with various kinds of gases such as N2, He, Ar, CO2, O2, NO, CH3, and solvent molecules. The equipments handling gases supply gases to cryostats, as well as PPMS and MPMS for in situ physical measurements.

A back room of R311 is used for sample's characterization by TG, DTA, spectroscopy, and electrochemistry, as well as for sampling for physical measurements.

Sampling and characterization

A back room of R311 is used for many purposes: for example, a stock room for chemicals, glass wares, and consumables using for syntheses and applications, sampling room, and experimental room mainly for solution chemistry and characterization.
This room has equipments commonly used for characterization.
